The editors' responsibilities are as follows:
- Writing the editorial or ensuring it is completed by another relevant party.
- Ensuring the template page is ready for posting with all relevant previous month's recaps already complete.
- Posting the template page at the start of each month, tagging it with the "news" tag, and fixing the Site News Hub's [[include]] to include the newest page as well as fixing the archive at the bottom of the page.
- Fixing the metadata each month to ensure it is credited to the "Site News Team".
- Updating the front page's news box with a relevant blurb announcing the Site News update here.
- Reviewing the work of team members awaiting approval in the "Staging Area" on the Site News Workbench.
- Cleaning the workbench up by utilizing the Site News Template.
- Conducting regular check-ins and assigning projects for team members to work on.

The reporters' responsibilities are as follows:
- Ensuring their own tasks get done in a timely manner, especially if their work is related to current events.
- Working on projects if applicable either on their own or collaboratively.
- Communicating effectively with the rest of their team on their progress, whether they need more time, or if they need to hand off their project to another team member.
- Checking in with their "buddy" to help keep each other accountable as well as being able to assist team members when they struggle with whatever task they have.
- Posting their work to the "Staging Area" on the Site News Workbench and alerting an editor that it is ready for review.
- Thinking creatively and innovatively to ensure that Site News remains an interesting avenue for the community to enjoy content from.
Roles and Content Explanations
Columns - Opinion-driven writing columns and round-table discussions.
Editorial - Short opinion pieces written by editors with the occasional guest writer.
Interviews - Formal short-form interviews with people pertinent to a particular topic.
Investigations - Long-form investigative journalism aimed to fully inform the community about a particular event or topic by presenting factual information in addition to asking for first-hand witnesses or experts' input into the story.
Recaps - Short concise sections such as the featured articles and statistics of the previous month to be posted alongside the template page. Additionally, recappers are to use the Site News Automator to attach a list of the month's posted articles and attach the appropriate emojis to them.
Reports - Short-form news coverage of recent topics or events aimed at quickly informing the community of news occurring in real-time. These should include primarily neutral and factual information with occasional testimonies from first-hand witnesses and sometimes the opinions of community members.
Buddy System
Every member of the team is assigned a "buddy". This buddy will generally be a member in a different section or who will be conducting different work than your own. It is recommended that you stay in contact with your buddy, but there will be twice a month where you will be expected to discuss with your buddy your own progress on your projects and ask them for their progress on their own projects. Editors will also check in routinely to see where people are at on their projects, but this step of mutual accountability is good for keeping people on track as well as being a tool to help build camaraderie and being able to collaborate with team members.
The designated check-in dates for buddies will be on the 1st and the 15th of each month. Again, Editors will check in from time to time, but these checks are supposed to occur between you and your buddy in addition to any regular chatting you do.
Project Ideas
Investigations:
- (WL) Do a deep dive on the Wanderer's Library that explains its origin and purpose, compare and contrast it with the SCP Wiki both in the content on the sites and their structure, and discuss its special place as the only official sister site to the SCP Wiki. No currently set due date.
- (Format Screws) Investigate the origin of format screws articles, from their humble starts to the full acceptance of such works on the wiki, how the userbase grew to feel about them and how they came to be a whole new type of article. No currently set due date.
Reports:
- (Nightfall) Talk about the new Nightfall canon. Explain the premise and its success. Briefly ask the creator their inspirations and what they foresee out of the canon. Due date is December 30th
- (GoI Formats) Discuss how GoI Formats are treated on the site, why SCPs and Tales are created far more often than GoI Formats, and survey community members to see what they think could help inspire more GoI formats being created in the future. Due date is January 15th
- (Roleplay) Address how the site has made attempts in the past to move away from some of the immersive and "roleplay-like" writing found in guides and other official pages. (Here is a recent example http://05command.wikidot.com/forum/t-14114671/authors-pages-update). Be sure to mention this isn't always the case with examples like this newer page (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/foundation-introduction-hub). Ask community members how they feel about this. Try to get opinions from people on both sides of the topic and include them in the story. No currently set due date.
